Essie B. Hamer Glass, 98, of Chicago, IL passed away on Wednesday January, 26, 2022.  She was born on October 10, 1923 in Grand Junction to the late John and Annie Hamer.  

Her funeral service was held on Saturday February 5, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Jerome Boyd Chapel at Dixie funeral home with Minister Annie Plane in charge.  Burial was in the Mitchell Cemetery-Michigan City, MS and Dixie Funeral Home was in charge of the professional service.

She accepted Jesus Christ at a young age and joined Hardaway MB Church.  

On May 15, 1940 she married the late Herman Glass and to this marriage one child was born, Tommie Lou.

She worked as a farmer until 1961 when she relocated to Chicago and worked as a home healthcare provider.  

She enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing cards and checkers.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and five siblings, Rosibud Spencer, Thomas, Edward and Hubert Hamer and margie Kendrick.

She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Tommy Lou Taylor and Annie Lavarne Kemp; one sister, Willie Mae Williams; four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great grandchildren and many other family and friends that will truly miss her.
