Essie Johnson
May 23, 1925 ~ June 28, 2025
100 Years Old
The Lord gifted the world a beautiful soul, Essie Mae Jarmon, on the blessed day of May 23rd, 1925. She was the daughter of loving parents, Brown Jarmon and Rethia Dodson, was the sister of Jr. (Bessie) Jarmon, and the bonus daughter to Joe Adam Dodson, and grew up in a home built on love, faith, and family.
Her funeral service was held on Saturday July 5, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Clover Garden CME Church with Rev. Donald Stone, Jr. in charge. Burial was in the Church Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.
She found love and partnership in Everette “Jack” Johnson, and together they were blessed with a loving family. Their union brought forth beloved children: Burnette (James) Brooks, Ocie (Charles) Johnson, Cosette (John) Crawford, Everette Johnson Jr., Earnest (Lillie) Johnson, and they also lovingly welcomed a stepdaughter, Precious Jenkins, into their lives. Among her greatest joys were her six grandchildren: Anthony (Kimberly) Johnson, Rickey (Terri) Waller, Randy (Vanessa) Waller, Montrell Brooks, Tristian Johnson, and Kendra Johnson. Throughout her life, Essie found great joy and pride in her family. She also leaves behind a legacy through her great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends who will continue to carry her memory forward with love and reverence.
By attending Allen White High School and Lane College, she instilled a love for learning into her children and laid the foundation for educational pursuit. She confessed her faith in the Lord at an early age and remained faithful throughout her life. She joined Clover Garden CME Church, and she was the visionary behind “Family & Friends Day,” which is a cherished program that continues to this day. She was a matriarch, a counselor, and a friend whose influence stretched far beyond her household.
Essie’s life was a living example of compassion, resilience, and quiet dignity. She was a woman of grace, whose heart was always open to giving, guiding, and nurturing, especially through her love of flowers. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love her.
