Frankie Futrell

Frankie Pittman Futrell was born February 15,1942 to Henry Pittman Sr. and Willie Mae Pittman in Germantown, TN. She was the 2nd of 10 children born to that union.

Her funeral service was held on Sunday December 17, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Tate Road Church of Christ with Brother John Ferguson in charge.  Burial was in the Morrow's Grove Church Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixieuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.

She graduated from Mt. Pisgah High School 1960 as Salutatorian. She attended Tennessee State University where she met James Willie Futrell whom she married and remained married for 60 years. She also attended Memphis State University and Lambuth College in Jackson, TN where she received her Bachelor's degree. To the union of James and Frankie Futrell, 2 daughters were born: Faye DeRochelle and Sonja Rene Futrell. She worked as a teacher for the Grand Junction school system and later as an aide for Bolivar Central High School. She also worked with the State of TN as an eligibility counselor for the Department of Human Services for 31 years and retired in 2004. Mrs. Futrell was baptized into the Church of Christ at East Bolivar in 1971 which later became the Tate Road Church of Christ where she remained a faithful member. Mrs. Frankie leaves to cherish her memory her husband and two daughters, five sisters: Lucille Crawford, Ernestine Harris, Joyce Ann Strong(Luby), Maxine Ivy (Troit), and Melissa Pittman all of Shelby County; two brothers Henry Pittman Jr. (Linda) and Larry Pittman(Phyllis) also of Shelby County a sister-in-law Mollie D. Dubose and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Versie Crawford and Gloria Pittman, sister-in-law Charlene Black Futrell and brother-in-law Chester Futrell. Frankie Futrell was a loving, caring, kind wife ,mother, sister and friend. She loved the church and all activities surrounding it. She also enjoyed sewing, cooking and spending time with family and friends.

We will ALL miss her dearly and we thank God for sharing her with us.
