Frederick Stephen Thomas, 79, of Jackson passed away on Friday August 30, 2024.  He was born in New Orleans, LA on July 21, 1945 to the late Emmett and Marion Francis Thomas.  

His funeral service was held on Thursday September 12, 2024 at 11:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father David Graham in charge of the service.  Entombment was in the Highland Memorial Garden Mausoleum and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.

He accepted Jesus Christ at a young age and joined St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church (New Orleans).Upon relocating to Jackson he joined St. Mary's Catholic Church.

He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School (New Orleans) and later served in the United States Navy where he was an electrician on the USS Enterprise.  He was honorably discharged in 1968 and attended Dillard University where he graduated with a degree in chemistry.  

He moved to Washington D.C. and worked as a research chemist with the United States government until he retired.

In 1972 he met his wife, Lilion Hudson and in 1982 they married.  They raised three children, Shelby Maurice (Carrie), Christopher Frederick (Lauren) and Dr. Gregory Scott Thomas.  They lived in Upper Marlboro, MD in a four story home that he built.    

He found joy in using his hands, his Catholic faith, his family and community.  He also enjoyed traveling and was a member of various community groups.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of forty-one years and his three sons and five grandchildren; siblings, Reginald (Darlene) Thomas, Flora (Eddie) Sorina, Nathan Thomas, Elvera (Freddie) Smith, Larry (Marie) Thomas; many other relatives and friends that will truly miss him.
