G W Hicks

G W Hicks passed away in Indianapolis, IN on Monday June 5, 2023.  He was born in Clayborn, Mississippi to the late Gus and Sadie Hicks.

His memorial service was held on Saturday June 24, 2023 at Smith Chapel MB Church with Reverend Shon Beasley in charge and his cremains were buried at the church cemetery.

He attended high school in East Chicago, IN and was a United States Army veteran.

He married the late Dorothy Woods and they lived in Hammond, IN until he retired and moved to Tennessee.  They were blessed to have one child, Gwyn.

While in Indiana he was a member of Goodwill MB Church and when he moved to Tennessee became a member of Smith Chapel MBC.  

He enjoyed fishing, cooking fish and telling stories about his military expreience.

He was preceded in death by his wife and parents and one brother, James (Jim) Hicks.

He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Gwyn Wilson; one granddaughter, Nia Wilson; one brother, Elijah (Pete) Hicks; and a host of other relatives and friends that will miss him.
