George ( Rabbit ) Washington Polk was born April 4, 1930 to the late Herbert and Ola Polk in Hardeman County. He was the last of the family to join them in eternal life..
“A TIME TO PLANT”
George confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and later joined Green Grove Baptist Church. George devoted ten years of his life to his loving wife, Connie Polk. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle.
George was drafted into the United States Army from March 1951 to March 1953. He later worked at Frayser High School as a janitor from 1963-1995.
“A TIME TO PLUCK UP THAT WHICH IS PLANTED”
On March 17, 2020, God called George home to his eternal resting place. George was preceded in death by his parents and two sons; Eddie and Kolbert.
“A TIME TO EMBRACE”
His funeral service was held on Saturday March 21, 2020 at 12:00 pm at Green Grove MBC with Pastor Daryl Ransom in charge. Burial was in the West Tennessee Veteran's Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.
George leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife; Connie Polk: one son; Johnnie Polk of Rockford, IL.: two daughters; Betty Herron of Bolivar, TN., and Joyce Cheers of California: three stepsons; Kenneth Bogan, Marvin Bogan, and Donald Bogan all of Memphis, TN.: a host of grand-children and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
