George William Tomlin

George William Tomlin was born May 25, 1952 to the parents of the late Sylvester Arthur Jestice and Annie Louise (Wilburn) Jestice in Hardeman County, Tennessee. On Tuesday, December 12, 2023, in Columbia, Missouri, God called His child home.

George was the third of ten children. Three brothers preceded him in death: Arthur Thomas Tomlin, James Edward Tomlin, and Larry Tomlin.

He accepted Christ at an early age and united with Clover Chapel Baptist Church.

George graduated from Bolivar Industrial High School in 1970. He went on to attend Jackson State Community College. Dedicated to his country, George served honorably in the United States Army, where he earned, several awards including the Southwest Asia Service Medal, Bronze Service Star, Army Commendation and Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Bar and etc. After Military retirement, George remained in Browns Mills, New Jersey until early 2021 where he came to live in Columbia, Missouri.

George met and married Anne Tomlin in 1982. To this union, one daughter was born. He leaves to cherish his memories; one daughter: Nichole (Sam) Wingfield of Saint Johns, Florida; one son: Lamont (Nicole) Chism of Chicago, Illinois; three sisters: Nancy Emery of Jackson, Tennessee; Martha (Marvin) Tomlin-McCrary of Columbia, Missouri and Karen (Stan) McGrady of Nashville, Tennessee; three brothers: John Tomlin and Willie Tomlin of Nashville, Tennessee and Terry Lynn (Janice) Jestice of Whiteville, Tennessee; one sister-in-law: Carolyn Tomlin of Toone, Tennessee; two grandchildren: Antwan Barner and LaMonica Chism of Chicago, Illinois; two great-grandchildren: Armani and A’Nyla of Chicago, Illinois and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.
