Georgia Washington (Phinnessee) Fryer (1953-2024) Georgia Fryer, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend departed from life on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at her home in Bolivar after a long illness. She was just shy of turning 71. Georgia was born in Grand Junction on February 22, 1953, to the late Mary Louise and Monroe Phinnessee.
Her funeral service was held on Saturday February 17, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the Jerome Boyd Chapel at Dixie Funeral Home with Reverend Arthur Lee McKinnie in charge. Burial was in the New Hope Church Cemetery-Hickory Valley and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.
She had seven siblings: Monroe Phinnessee, Jr., Mae Ola Phinnessee, Bettye Louise Phinnessee, David Phinnessee, Milton Phinnessee (Joyce Ann), Jackie John Phinnessee (Sonja), and Patricia Ann Phinnessee (Y.C.).
Georgia was preceded in death by an infant son, Dexter Stephen Phinnessee and a sister, Bettye Louise Phinnessee.
She is survived by her loving husband of forty four years, Ernest Fryer; a son, Dana Dean Phinnessee (Flora Hoyle-fiancé); two daughters, Dina Michelle Phinnessee, and Dee Carol White (Antonio White); six grandchildren and four great grandchildren: D’Alexis Phinnessee, Shakeya Phinnessee (Keelan Robertson and Khylan Phinnessee), D’Onica Phinnessee, Darius Phinnessee (Dominick Phinnessee and Dante’ Phinnessee), Kennedi White, and Kassidy White; 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
Georgia received higher education at Bolivar Industrial High School and Jackson State Community College.
She worked at Care Inn/Pine Meadows. She later worked at Bolivar Community Health Center until her health began to decline and she was no longer able to provide the care she was accustomed to providing to her patients.
Georgia had a special love for her “fur baby” named Marty, who stayed by her side until he transitioned in the Summer of 2022. Georgia will always be remembered as the glue that held the family together as she loved having Sunday dinners are her house. She continued these dinners until her health declined and she was no longer able to sustain them. She will truly be missed by everyone that knew her.
