Gerald Neal Story passed away on Wednesday July 30, 2025. He was born on April 29, 1958, in Bolivar, TN, to the late Troy Lee Storey and Mary Etta (Jones) Storey.
His funeral service was held on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Friendship MB Church. Burial was in the Oak Hill Church Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.
He was blessed to be loved and guided throughout his life by his devoted mother, Mrs. Mary Etta Robinson, who survives him.
He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Oak Hill MB Church, where he remained a member until his transition. Moving to San Diego, CA at a young age. Gerald never forgot his roots and was always ready to lend a helping hand, share a kind word, and encourage others.
A graduate of Hardeman County Schools, he became a certified auto mechanic and worked over 30 years for the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System, earning the respect and admiration of his coworkers. Gerald was also a Mason for a time, reflecting his faith, fellowship, and quiet strength.
He was united in marriage to Diane Sykes, who preceded him in life’s journey. From this union came two children, Sideequah and Gelisa Natile; Gelisa Natile also preceded him in life’s journey.
He was also blessed with a bonus son, Ambrose (Terrell) Sykes. Gerald valued family above all. He loved Sunday dinners, special gatherings, and simple moments with loved ones. He enjoyed music, working on cars, cooking, dressing for success, and in later years, long bike rides.
He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving mother, Mrs. Mary Etta Robinson; three children, Terrell Sykes (Lachelle), Sideequah Marie Storey-Murphy (Mario), and Christopher Clark; four brothers, Ricky Blake (Riachelle), Troy Storey (Sandra), Cedric Robinson (Deann), and Cortney Robinson (Kristina); two sisters, Gwendolyn Storey Tomlin (Roderick) and LaTanya Alexander McGhee (Rodney); twelve grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
