Inell “Doodie” Woods-Washington’s life was a testament to faith, family, and community.
Her funeral service was held on Saturday December 14, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the Mt. Olive MB Church with Pastor Bernett Messenger in charge. Burial was in the Church Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.
Born on July 15, 1954, to the late Luther and Mattie B. Sain-Woods in Bolivar, TN, she embraced her spiritual journey early on by confessing her hope in Christ.
Her commitment to her faith led her to unite with the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, where she not only attended regularly but also contributed to the church’s vibrant community as a devoted and faithful member.
Inell has had a diverse and impactful career following her graduation from Bolivar Central High School in 1974.
She began her professional journey at Harman Automotive, where she worked for nearly two decades, from 1974 to 1992.
After her tenure at Harman Automotive, she pursued various certifications that enhanced her skills and qualifications. These included a Technology Foundation certificate, a Data Entry Clerk certification from the Tennessee Board of Regents, and specialized training through the State Department of Finance and Administration Division of Mental Retardation Services, which focused on administering medication by non-licensed personnel. Inell took on roles at the Correction Corporation of America (CCA) and later at Hardeman County Developmental/ACE/MHDS.
At the latter, she dedicated her efforts to supporting individuals with developmental and mental health needs, demonstrating her commitment to service and community well-being. Inell retired from her role there, concluding a fulfilling career marked by continued education and service to others.
Inell Woods (Doodie) was a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend. Inell passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Jackson General Hospital in Jackson, TN.
Inell was truly a remarkable person whose warmth and kindness resonated with everyone she met. Her heart of gold was a beacon of love, striking a chord with family, friends, and her church community alike. Family was her anchor; she cherished every moment spent with loved ones, creating lasting memories that would forever hold a special place in their hearts. Inell’s passion for fishing brought her joy and tranquility, as she found solace in nature’s beauty during those peaceful days by the water.
Traveling to Florida to visit her daughter and family was another highlight of her life, where she embraced the love and laughter that filled those moments together. Whether she was sharing a meal with family, leading a prayer at church, or casting a line into the water, Inell’s spirit was vibrant and full of life. Her legacy of love will undoubtedly continue to inspire all who knew her.
Inell is preceded in death by her parents; Luther and Mattie B. Sain-Woods, grandparents; Aubrey and Idell Macon-Sain, Addie B. Smith, Roosevelt Woods, three brothers; Louis Lloyd (Eddie), Luther Jr. Woods (Pig - Luther Boy), James Aubrey Woods (Bobby) two sisters; Evelyn Jean Robinson (Buddy), Doris Marie Turner (Ree), three aunts and three uncles.
Inell leaves to cherish her memories; one daughter; Latoya Lake Whyte: one grandson Brennen Whyte; one brother; Cedric Woods, three sisters; Gazella Coleman, Gwendolyn Woods and Natalie Woods; one brother-in-law; Willie Fred Robinson, a special friend Aaron Sharp and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
