Inez Cole

86 Years Old

Inez Bowden Cole passed away on Sunday March 9, 2025.  She was born on August 8, 1938.  

Her funeral service was held on Saturday March 22, 2025 at 12:00 noon at the Jerome Boyd Chapel at Dixie Funeral home with Reverend Earl Bowden in charge. Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneral home.com was in charge of the professional service.

Inez professed a hope in Christ at an early age. She was a member of Oak Hill M.B. Church in Bolivar, TN. She later moved her membership to clover creek M.B. Church in Medon, TN under the leadership of Pastor Earl Lee Bowden until her passing.

Inez was always a loving and caring mother; however, she worked outside the home for years. She was a beautician for 50 years or more while also working at different companies: Tennessee foods for 25 years, Kilgore for more than 20 years, loving arms for 5 years. she also worked at solution support and mill branch fish market in Memphis, tn. Inez loved to have fun and enjoyed going to church and singing in the choir and cooking, fishing, sewing, and gardening.

Inez was united in Holy Matrimony to Jack Newson, Jr. To this union, four children were born. Lonnie lee Newson, Jacqueline Evette Jones, Shelia M. McKinney, and Tyron Newson Cole. Her husband preceded her in death May 2, 1980. Inez was later united in Holy Matrimony to A.D. Cole. This union combined not just her four children but also his nine children.

In addition to both husbands and her parents, Inez was preceded in death by two brothers, Hillard Bowden II and Walter L. Bowden; two sisters, Iona Bowden jones and Thelma Bowden woods; two stepsons, Arthur Cole and Dwight Cole; her in laws, The late Jim and Sophia Beard Newson; two granddaughters, Gloria Newson and Lynn Jones.

Inez received her education in the Hardeman County school system. She attended bishop school and later attended Allen White School in Whiteville, TN. She graduated May 17, 1957. After graduation, she attended Eddings beauty school where she received her license in cosmetology on July 15, 1958.

Inez leaves to cherish her memories: Two sons, Lonnie Newson and Tyron Cole; two daughters, Jacqueline Jones and Shelia McKinney; two sisters, Clara Jackson and Florine Stigger; three brothers, W.C. Bowden, Anderson (Alma) Bowden, and Earl (Josephine) Bowden; seven step children, Donald, David, Willie, Debra, Verneda, Cletonia, Barnum, and Lucille Cole; eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren; one special and loving friend for many years, Johnnie L. Russell and a host of very special friends, nieces, and nephews she loved dearly.
