J. C. Bills
February 10, 1941 ~ July 12, 2022 (age 81)
J.C. Bills, a highly decorated veteran of the Vietnam War and longtime resident of Jackson, TN, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2022. J.C. was born on February 10, 1941 to the late Fletcher and Luddie (Falls) Bills.
His funeral service was on Saturday July 23, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Jerome Boyd Chapel @ Dixie FH with Elder Wendell K. Sain in charge. Burial was in the Oak Hill MB church cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.
He confessed his faith in Christ at a young age and joined New Hope M.B. Church in Hickory Valley, TN.
After graduating from Allen White High School, J.C. enlisted in the U.S. Army and was recognized for his honorable service with a Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Air Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Overseas Service Bar, and Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Medal with Pal Ribbon.
J.C. married Earnestine (Lake) Bills in 1969. To this loving union was born one son Louis Jai Bills.
After his distinguished Army military career, J.C. worked as a Federal Corrections Officer in Leavenworth, KS and Memphis, TN. J.C. loved keeping up with current political news events, as well as, going to basketball games in Jackson and surrounding areas. J.C. was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings.
He is survived by his son Jai (Stephanie) Bills of Charlotte, NC and daughter Eloise Haddix of Corinth, MS. He also leaves to cherish his memory three grandchildren, Jade Bills, Jaylon Bills, Joel Bills, his loving sister Ms. Gertrude Prewitt of Hickory Valley, TN and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.
