James Edward "Nute" Jones

August 20, 1936 ~ March 22, 2025

88 Years Old

James Edward Jones (affectionately Nute) was born on August 20, 1936, to the late Emma Louise Jones Beard and the late Willie “Doc” McGuire.

His funeral service was held on Saturday March 29, 2025 at 11:00 am at Antioch Baptist Church with Pastor Jermaine Shaw in charge. Burial was in the church Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneral home.com was in charge of the professional service.

James was raised by his maternal grandparents.

He attended school in Hardeman County but left to work with his grandfather.

James confessed a hope in Christ when he was young and was a lifelong member of Antioch Baptist Church.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to Emma Louise Murphy and to this union six children were born. They reared four daughters.

Due to a need and desire to have a better life, James relocated to Chicago, Illinois to work for several years.

Later, James, his wife, and daughters moved from Chicago back to Tennessee. After a few jobs, he ultimately worked at Hardeman Automotive until he retired. He was an extremely hardworking man who took pride in providing for his family. He taught his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren the importance of work and to be of good character.

In June 2024, he was recognized as one of four men 80 & above by his church family.

After a very short illness, James peacefully transitioned to be with the Lord on Saturday morning March 22, 2025, with his daughter Tangy singing “Hold to God’s Unchanging Hand.”

Awaiting his arrival are his parents, his wife (Louise), their two sons Giuseppe and Keith Edward, his sisters: Florence Brownlow & Bernice Jones and his brothers: Ray McGuire, Robert McGuire, Willie Ray Beard, Frank Beard, and Johnny Ray Beard. He leaves a legacy of great memories with those who loved him dearly: his daughters, Brenda (Bobbie) Adams, Renee (JC) Anderson, Dr. LaJuana (Jeffery) Hamer, Tangy Jones, and Dr. Vickey (Larry) Coleman; grandchildren: Talandra Jones (raised as his own), Jamaris Anderson, Ashley (DeMarco) McNair, Jabin Coleman, Tevin Coleman, Cinnamon (Mark) Duncan, Willie (Andrea) Adams, and Matthews Adams; great grandchildren: Chasmine Jones, Jamarion Anderson, Baleigh Beauregard, Marlei McNair, Ja’Kamarian McNair, Taylor Coleman, Trevor Coleman, Nia Duncan as well as his bonus granddaughter Ke’Leah Jackson; one brother Ernest (Eunice) Beard and three sisters: Geneva Neely, Iola Allen, and Rose Hill; a paternal aunt Pearl Vaught, a special neighbor/friend, James Spencer, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
