James Murphy

January 4, 1950 ~ April 10, 2026 (age 76)

James L. Murphy passed away peacefully on April 10, 2026, at the age of 76.  He was born on January 4, 1950, in Whiteville, TN, to the late John Ed Woods and Lucille Williams.

His funeral service is scheduled for Sunday May 31, 2026 at Jerome Boyd Chapel at Dixie Funeral Home.  Burial will be in the Bolivar Community Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com will be in charge of the professional service.

He attended school in Hardeman County. He was employed at Master Slack for several years.  He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and friends.

James’ son, LeMonte Murphy, brothers Marshall Murphy, Wiley Murphy and Jerry Woods, all preceded him in death.

 James is survived by his children Edwin Sain (Cassandra) , Tawana Murphy, Lekeisha Murphy-Gully (Emmanuel); his grandchildren, Lamonterrio Murphy,  Cordaja Murphy-Crisp (Kendrick), Ashley Sain, Jaquella Woody (Woodrow), Shelby Sain, Erica Sain, Edwin D. Sain, Madison Murphy, Roman Bond, Gabriel Lockett-Murphy, Hailey Lane, Emmanuel Gully;  his great- great grandchildren; his sisters, Artie Joy, Vera Hudson (Robert); his brothers, Bishop Jesse Eugene Williams, Charles Woods (Darlene), his nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
