John William Avent was born May 10, 1950 in Hickory Valley, TN. He was the son of James and Lucy Price-Avent. Mr. Avent accepted Christ as his Lord and Saviour at an early age at Old Bethel M.B. Church.
His funeral service was held on Sunday October 13, 2024 at 12: 00 noon at the Jerome Boyd Chapel at Dixie Funeral Home with Minister Valerie Casey in charge. Burial was in the Tennessee State Veteran's Cemetery at Parker's Crossroads and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.
For many years, Mr. Avent served in the United States Army. After retiring from the military, he returned home and began his career at Western Mental Health Institute as psychiatric technician. "Casanova", as he was affectionately called, was known for his immeasurable generosity, outspoken personality, loyalty and exceptional sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers; Lonzie, Larry, Perry and Jerry Avent and 3 sisters; Diane, Sandra and Alice Avent.
He leaves to cherish his memories to his aunt; Martha Ruth Richardson of St. Louis, MO, 1 uncle;Will Price of Detroit, MI,
4 nieces; Regina Elliot of Bolivar, TN, Tamesha Brown of Jackson, TN, Christa Pirtle of Gallaway, TN and Anna Brown of Whiteville, TN, 2 nephews; Terry Avent of Somerville, TN and Rickey Brown of Bolivar, TN, a few special friends whom he considered his brothers; Donnie Robinson, Fred Robinson, Finest Bills and Donnell Murphy and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will miss him dearly.
