88 Years Old

John Andrew Bills was born February 17, 1935 to the late George E. Bills and the late Pearl Ada Futrell Bills in Hickory Valley, TN.

He was the beloved grandson of the late Mr. Andrew Bills and Mrs. Ellen Spinks Bills. He was also the grandson of the late Mr. John Futrell and Mrs. Mary Louise (Molly) McKinnie Futrell. He proudly accepted, cherished, and honored the name of both grandfathers, (John and Andrew).

He made his transition on June 19, 2023 at Jackson General Hospital in Jackson, TN.

John accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at an early age and united with Mt. Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Hardeman County, Hickory Valley, TN. He loved the church and assisted financially when he could. He was a loving, caring, and generous person and he was praying man and believed in God and God’s timing.

After completing high school, he went to work at the City Lumber Company in Hickory Valley, TN. After moving to Chicago, he was employed the Kirchheimer Bro. Co. and Chicago Paper Handlers’ and Electrotypers’. He had great culinary skills as he would prepare special meals when we visited him in Chicago. Mr. Bills was happily married to Virginia Tyson “Jennie” for many years. They did not have children together, however, he was a father to Virginia’s children. God blessed John to have a wonderful nephew by the name of Mark Wayne Bills who when he heard that John was ill, went to Chicago and brought him to his home in Tennessee. He loved his uncle so much that he kept him at his home for more than 3 months. He took care of his financial responsibilities, all medical necessities and doctors’ appointments. God put this amazing, generous, and loving young man in John’s life for a reason. No one could have been more attentive .

Thank you Mark for taking care of your uncle in TN. Milton Deshun Bills was his uncle John’s right hand man and chauffer for several years in Chicago. Thank you! Mr. Bills was preceded in death by his parents: eight brothers; Joe Louis Bills, D.C.
