John Luellen, Jr., 83, of Grand junction passed away at home on Wednesday may 22, 2024.  He was born in Grand Junction on October 12, 1940 to the late John Luellen, Sr. and Alberta Stephens.  

His funeral service was held on Saturday June 1, 2024 at 11:00 am at New Vision Ministries-Saulsbury with Minister Kenneth Fields in charge of the service.

Burial was in the Grand Junction Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home (www.dixiefuneralhome.com) was in charge of the professional service.  

He confessed a hope in Jesus Christ at a young age and joined Pleasant Grove MB Church.  He was educated in the Hardeman County public schools and attended LeMoyne-Owen College (Memphis).  He was a veteran of the United States Army where he was honorably discharged.  

He relocated to East Chicago (EC), IN and worked with Inland Steel.  He was later employed with the EC fire department where he retired as Chief Inspector.

After retirement he relocated to Grand Junction.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Doris Robinson and Roberta Richardson; one son, Demetrius Luellen; two special others, Linda Luellen and Evette Millender.

He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Johneen (Darnell) Hogan and Ebony (Samuel) Reed; three sons, Jeff daugherty, Dontavious Millender and David Pugh; three sisters, Christine (JC) Gibbs, Denise Luellen and Beverly Watkins; five brothers, Mark (Harold), Herbert Earl, Steve (Nichole), Michael and Arthur (LA Dean) Lullen; several grandchildren, other relatives and friends that will miss him.
