Kenneth Harwell

Kenneth Burnell Harwell was born March 19, 1956 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Bennie and Elma Harwell.
His private service was held on Wednesday August 5, 2020 at 12:00 pm at Jerome Boyd Chapel @ Dixie Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Crisp in charge. Burial was in the Union Hill Church Cemetery in Whiteville, Tn and Dixie Funeral Home (www.dixiefuneralhome.com) was in charge of the professional service.
He was the youngest of their four children. As a result of brain surgery during his infancy, he was left permanently disabled with partial paralysis of his right side.
During his early years, Kenny attended James Madison Elementary and Cook Elementary Schools in Chicago, IL. He also attended Arlington Developmental Center and a trade school in Smyrna, TN where he developed a passion for refinishing furniture, He received supplemental training from Tennessee Vocational Technical School.
Kenny was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where he served as a member of the Usher Board and in the Male Chorus. For several years he served as 2nd vice president of the Hardeman County Chapter of the NAACP. He participated in numerous voter registration drives and was a proud voter in every election.
Kenny loved family gatherings and the company of others. He spent many hours at the café in Whiteville and “hanging out” in Bolivar. He enjoyed keeping in touch with family and friends by calling and through Facebook and watching Western on TV.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Howard Anthony Greene; his father, Bennie Curtis Harwell and his mother, Elma Greene Dotson. He is survived by his brothers, William Dannie Harwell (Carla); Eric Dotson (Kim) and his sisters, Gwendolyn Harwell McNeil (Willie); Juliette Harwell Becton; Jeanette Wilson and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
