Larry Murphy

Larry “Rat” was born February 18, 1956 to the late Willie Mae Murphy and Ervin Harvey.
His graveside service was held on Wednesday November 18, 2020 at 12:00 pm at the New Bethel's God's House of Promise with Pastor Jerry Crisp in charge and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.
He grew up in Bolivar Hardeman County area where he attended school.
He graduated from Bolivar Central High in 1974.
He married his soul mate, Francine Shears.
Larry served in the Armed Forces for 29 years. He was employed by Nat T. Winston Developmental Center and Western Mental Health Institute. He enjoyed working with others that could not help themselves. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, family, friends, and his beloved canine “Bullet” Larry was kind and friendly to everyone. He professed a belief in Christ at an early age and joined New Bethel Baptist Church. He maintained his faith in Christ and later United with Union Hill MBC where Rev. Crisp was his Pastor.
Cherishing his memories are: His beloved wife of 25 years, Francine Murphy; Farther, Ervin Harvey; 5 brothers: George (Lacrecia) Murdock of Fredericksburg, VA, Linzy (Mary) Murphy, Danny Harvey and Ervin Harvey, Jr., all of TN, and William Earl Murphy; 1 sister: JoAnn (Maceo) Gibson of MS; 1 sister-in-law: Zeanie (Ben) Henderson of Milwaukee, WI; 3 brothers-in-law: Willie (Alicia) Shears, Larry Shears of Milwaukee, WI and Brian Washington of Palmdale, CA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, neighbors and friends. He will greatly be missed by his canine “Bullet”.
