Laverne Kemp was born in Chicago, IL on November 29, 1956 to the late Willie, Sr. and Kittie Kemp. Laverne departed this life on Sunday, May 4, 2025 in Jackson, TN.

Her funeral service was held on Saturday May 17, 2025 at 12:00 noon at Greater Springfield MB Church with Pastor Shon Beasley in charge.  Burial was in the New Bethel Church Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.come was in charge of the professional service.  

Laverne confessed a Hope in Christ at an early age. She was a member of Greater Springfield Baptist Church of Bolivar, TN.

Laverne attended school in Chicago, IL. She was a Food Service Manager until her retirement.

Laverne will be remembered by her family & friends in their own special way. Laverne was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.

Laverne was preceded in death by her parents, Willie, Sr. and Kittie Kemp; three sisters, Quantella, Maxine, and Yolanda Kemp; one brother, Willie Kemp, Jr. (Main)

Laverne leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Aisha Kemp; five sisters, Minnie (Dwight) Steward, Annette Kemp, Christie Kemp, Tracy (Victor) Moss, and Regina Kemp; one brother, Demeco Kemp; special nieces and nephews that she loved as her own, Sheureka Kemp, Nigeria (Jerry) Griffin, Willie (Misee) Kemp, Olajuwan Kemp, Chasmine Franklin, Jermaine Kemp, Quintavius Kemp, and Chernenko Kemp; great niece, Jamaya Kemp; great nephews, Jermiah Pearson, Carter Kemp, and Jerry Eddie Griffin, III (EJ); one special aunt, Velma Washington; three special friends, Serita Wilkes, Angela Morrow, and Peggie Justice and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
