Ms. Lawrence Whitford of East St. Louis, IL passed away on Tuesday February 15, 2022.  

She was born on June 13, 1933 in Hardeman County, TN to the late Paul Whitford and Gerthie Lee Anderson.

Her funeral service was held on Thursday February 24, 2022 at 12:00 noon at Mt. Olive MB Church in East St. Louis, IL with Reverend Cornell Brown in charge. 

Burial was in the Whitford Family Cemetery in Cloverport, TN and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the burial service.  

She attended school in the Hardeman County public schools and in 1955 she relocated to East St. Louis, IL and joined Mt. Olive MB Church where her membership remained.

She was employed several places including the City of East St. Louis, Lessie Bates Neighborhood House and the Jackie-Joyner Kersee Boys and Girls Club. 

She was an avid basketball fan especially the Golden State Warriors.  She enjoyed traveling and was the family historian.

Preceding her in death were her parents; sisters, Vergie Beatrice O'Neal and Frances Wicks; stepsister, Augusta Macon; brothers, G.W. , Edward, Sr., John Henry and Lee Whitford.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son John Wesley Whitford (Annette); daughters, LaDonna and Valerie Whitford; brother, Thomas Whitford, Sr. and many other relatives and friends that will truly miss her.
