Mrs. Mary Jean McKinnie Jones was born on October 6, 1946 to the Late Mr. Boss Monroe and the Late Lula Mae Hodge McKinnie.
She transitioned from her earthly home to her Heavenly home on Monday, August 14, 2023 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital after a brief illness. “Marie”, as she was affectionately referred to by her childhood friends, attended Hickory Valley Elementary School and was a graduate of Allen White High School. Her employment history includes Hardeman County Garment Factory and Mrs. Margaret’s Daycare in Bolivar, Tennessee. She professed a hope in Christ at an early age and joined New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Hickory Valley, Tennessee. She later joined the Greater New Hope Church in Bolivar, Tennessee under the leadership of Elder James Patterson. During which time she rendered faithful service as youth Sunday School teacher, choir director and lead singer, and during her later years she served on the Mother Board. If you truly knew her, you know she truly loved the Lord with all her heart. Even while battling two cancer diagnosis, her faith was unshakable and her relationship with God was unbreakable. Her response to any and all circumstances and/or situations was always , “All is well!” Later in life, the beautiful Mary Jean Jones met a handsome Marine by the name of James Edward Jones. On September 26, 1971, they were united in Holy Matrimony and together they raised six beautiful children in the Lord. Mary Jean Jones lived a life full of love, joy, and laughter. There was never a dull moment whenever she was around. She loved everyone and everyone loved her. She was always optimistic. Giving up was never an option. A woman full of wisdom and grace and unconditional love that can never ever be replaced. Besides her husband of 51 years, she leaves to cherish her memory three sons: Mr. Stanley (Shelia) Hill of Radcliff, Ky; Minister James (Lakenia) Jones of Gates, TN; Marcus Jones of Memphis, TN; three daughters: Kimberly Kearney of Jackson, TN; Lasunda Jones of Murfreesboro, TN, and Lashell Jones of Toone, TN; two brothers: Issac (Rose) McKinnie of Rockford, Ill and Boss McKinnie of Bolivar, TN; four sisters: Betty Borden of Rockford, Ill; Mae Parham and Martha (Roy) Jones of Bolivar, TN, and Nancy (Ronald) Cole of Jackson, TN; a very young woman whom she loved like a daughter: Shuna Smith; twenty-five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, a very special daycare baby; RJ Coleman; a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
