Mattie Lue (Horton) Taylor

Mattie Lue Taylor was born in Bolivar, TN on October 29, 1954.
Her funeral service was held on Monday May 23, 2022 at 12:00 noon at the Oak Hill MB Church with Gene Bowden in charge. Burial was in the Church Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.
She was the six child born to George Horton and Laura (Sain) Horton who preceded her in death. Her sister; Eva M. Horton and her daughter; Anita Marie Taylor also preceded her in death.
At an early age, Mattie accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and joined the Oak Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Bolivar, TN. She had an unwavering faith in God. After moving to Detroit, MI, she then joined St. Galilee Baptist Church under the guidance and ministry of Rev. Dr. Solomon Sain, where she continued her service to the Lord. She later moved back to Bolivar where she loved so much and joined Mt. Olive MB Church.
Mattie had several jobs, however she enjoyed working for the Hardeman County School System as a bus driver for many years. Mattie married Larry Taylor and from that union, Gregory K. Taylor and Anita Marie Taylor was born. She later gave birth to Bernard C. Hudson. Mattie loved her children and grand children; Laporsha Taylor, Cabresha Taylor, Tommie Taylor, and Jayden Jamal Hudson. Mattie enjoyed sports, particular basketball and her favorite player was Isiah Thomas. She was an excellent cook. She enjoyed gospel quartet singing, worshiping and praising the Lord. She was a member of the hospitality committee at her church. She loved making things happen behind the scene.
Mattie made her transition, May 14, 2022 @ 8:19PM in Jackson TN. She leaves to cherish her memories: two sons; Gregory K. Taylor and Bernard C. Hudson, both of Bolivar, TN: four grandchildren; Laporshia Taylor, Cabresha Taylor, Tommie Taylor, and Jayden Jamal Hudson all of Jackson, TN: five aunts; Nonia Young of Redford, MI, Ruth Relph (Cleveland) of Holly, MI., Ardenia Caldwell Johnson (Galen) of Detroit, MI., George Anna Ali (Amjad) of North Potomac, MD, Teresa Bills of Nashville, TN and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will always love her.
