Mattie Woods was the daughter of the late Aubrey and Idell Sain. Mattie was the matriarch of the Woods & Kelley family. She loved to sing, cook, travel, and spend time with family.

Her funeral service was held on Saturday July 24, 2021 at 11:00 am at Mt. Olive MB Church with Reverend James W. Williams in charge.  Burial was in the church cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.

Mattie's favorite quotes were "Look up to the sky and live", "If the Lord says the same", "When I stand up, my thoughts sit down", "Gwone Now(Go on now)" and "Let the sky be your limit". as her health begin to fail her say-ing was "I'm kicking but not as high". Mattie had a welcoming spirit that didn't judge anyone based on their appearance. Mattie's favorite pastime was sitting on the porch watching the traffic on Lee Street.

Mattie confessed hope in Christ at an early age and united with the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until the end of her journey. Mattie was a choir member as well as the choir president. Mattie served on the motherboard for over thirty years. Mattie attended Hardeman County School System. Mattie married Luther James Woods Sr. in 1952.

Mattie was employed at Master Slack and Harman Automotive in Bolivar, Tennessee. Mattie retired in 1993. After years in retirement, she returned to work as a foster grandmother at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Day Care and Hornsby Elementary School as a grand-parent.

Mattie B was preceded in death, by her parents; Aubrey and Idell Sain: her husband; Luther Woods Sr.: two sons; Louise (Eddie) Lloyd and Luther Woods Jr.: one daughter; Evelyn Jean Robinson: two sisters; Gloria Dell Kelley and Daisy Lee Saddler.

Mattie B leaves to cherish her memories, two sons; James Aubrey and Cedric Woods: five daughters; Doris Turner, Inell Washington, Gazella Coleman, Gwendolyn and Natalie Woods; nineteen grandchildren; seven nieces and nephews that was raised as her own and a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
