Minister Andy Walton passed away on Tuesday December 5, 2023. He was born on November 12, 1952 to the late Blanche and Tommie Walton, Sr.
His funeral service was held on Saturday December 16, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the New Bethel COGIC with Reverend Eddie Walton in charge. Burial was in the Jones Chapel Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.
He grew up in Bolivar Hardeman County area where he attended school.
He professed his hope in Christ at an early age and joined Jones Chapel Church. He later joined Greater New Bethel where he was a faithful and dedicated member until his health failed.
Mr. Andy labored with his father at an early age on the farm. He also worked at Rapac for many years until his health failed.
His parents, three brothers: Charles Walton, Eddie Walton, Sr., and Tommy Walton, Jr, two sisters, Katie Lee Walton and Willie Mae Rucker proceeded him in death.
He enjoyed cooking, fishing, singing, watching Westerns, his favorite basketball team, the Memphis Grizzlies, reading the Bible, and taking walks with his wife.
Cherishing his memories are: His beloved wife Gordon Jean Walton, children, Andrew Morrow, Valerie (Greg) Hudson, Angela (Barry) Williams, Annette Walton, Tyron Murphy, Jerome Murphy and Peggy Murphy; step children: Jeneal McNeal, Natasha (Earl) Glass, Abalonia Melissa (Aaron) Young, and Takila Thompson; sisters: Lucille Morgan and Blanchie Jackson. A special niece, Louise Young, a special nephew, Levon Jones, a special friend, Frank Fason, and a host of grand children, great grand children, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
