February 7, 1948 ~ September 15, 2022 (age 74)


Mozell was born on February, 7, 1948 to Elliot Butler and the late Carrie L. Wooden in Hardeman County, Tennessee. She departed this life on September 15, 2022.


Her funeral service was held on Saturday September 24, 2022 at 12:00 pm at Greater Springfield MB Church and Pastor Marlon Wooden in charge of the service.  Burial was in the Little Walnut Grove MB Church Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service. 


Her spiritual nurturing began when she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior and joined Little Walnut Grove Baptist Church, where she was a faithful servant until her health began to fail her.


Her education was obtained in Chicago, Illinois where she graduated from Hersch High School. She later moved back to Bolivar, Tennessee and obtained her License in Cosmetology while acquiring employment at Western State Mental Health Institution as a Security Guard. She retired after 39 ½ years of service. Being a working mother did not keep her from making her house a loving home for her family. She was the mother of two children, and many she adopted along the way.


She was preceded in death by three brothers: James Oscar Wooden, Alexander Butler, Jr. and                  Willis T. Butler; two sisters: Johnnie Mae Sain and Robie Butler; step-father: Oscar Wooden; step-mother: Rose Butler and godmother: Peggy Franklin


Her departure leaves many precious memories for her children: Michion Gatlin and Vonda Parram; father: Elliot Butler; four grandchildren: Jasmine Humphrey and Jarvis Humphrey both of Bolivar, Tennessee, Brandon Gatlin of Jackson, Tennessee and Erica Francis of Nashville, Tennessee; eight sisters: Diane (Leslie) Howard, Diana (Gary) Atwater, Linda Dubose, Annette Wooden, Lenise (Arthur) Butler, Sarah (Christopher) Alexander, Tracey (Anthony) Stokes, Nancy (Karl) Gill and Velma (Targett) Butler; five brothers: Willis (Rosie) Wooden, Larry (Lucille) Wooden, Earl Dubose, Freddie (Shirley) Butler and Lee (Liz) Butler; godbrothers: Corman Franklin and Michael Franklin; A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
