Pastor Jerry Liddell
March 2, 1941 ~ April 6, 2025
84 Years Old
Pastor Jerry Liddell was born on March 2, 1941 in LaGrange, TN to the late John Henry and LeAnna Liddell. He accepted Christ at an early age at Sims Chapel M.B. Church in Michigan City, MS.
His funeral service was held on Saturday April 19, 2025 at 12:00 pm at Sims Chapel Church - Michigan City, MS with Pastor Kieron Morman in charge. Burial was in the church cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.
Pastor Liddell was educated in the Fayette County School System.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to his childhood sweetheart, Emma Jones in 1960 and moved to Memphis, TN. Shortly after, he moved to Los Angeles, CA, seeking a better opportunity to provide for his family.
After moving to Los Angeles, he started working at Northrop Aircraft, located in Hawthorne, CA where he worked on the wing of the Boeing, 747 Airplane. He had a burning desire to work where he could move from place to place, so he attended Trade Technical Skill College, Los Angeles, CA and received a certificate in Dry Wall Finisher and worked as an entrepreneur.
He received a B.A. Degree in Theology at Providence Theological Seminary, Los Angeles, CA. He received an Honorary Doctor’s degree under the administration of Bishop Benjamin Reid, Pastor of First Church of God, Inglewood, CA. In 1975, he founded Temple of Believers Community Church in Los Angeles, CA, who will be celebrating a Historic fifty years of five generations of service this year, under the leadership of Pastor Wilburn Liddell. After moving to the Inland Empire, he served at Pomona First Church of God, Pomona, CA, as Co-Pastor under the leadership of Dr. William Jefferies. Later, he founded Inland Empire Ministries Church of God loated in Riverside, CA, who is now under the leadership of Pastor William Rials. He trained ministers and missionaries, allowing them to have a platform for teaching and preaching. One of his sons in the ministry became a Bishop, (Bishop Lonnie McNamee), Pastor of Do Right Church, located in Los Angeles, CA. Pastor Liddell had a list of many accomplishments: he served as Pastor of the International Prayer Band founded by his wife, Emma Liddell; Founder of Liddell’s Home for Boys, Los Angeles, CA; Founder of Liddell’s Group Home INC., Pomona, CA; Founder of Liddell Trucking Company; Executive Director of 67th Street Community Center, Los Angeles, CA.
He was mentor for the Rolin 60 Gang and Drug Attics, where he would often go and sit on the street sidewalk with them and eat bolonia and crackers as he talked to them. His ministry included prison and street witnessing. He co-ordinated members of the church to minister to five convalescent homes in the community. After and early retirement due to illness in the family, him and his family moved back home, La Grange, TN. He served at Greater New Bethel Church of God in Christ, Bolivar, TN under the leadership of Pastor Willie McNeil, whom he respected his leadership with a humble Spirit. Later, he returned to his Home Church, Sims Chapter MBC where he attended until his health failed, under the leadership of Pastor Elvis White and current Pastor, Keiron Morman.
Two children, Derek Liddell of Memphis, TN and Titus Liddell of La Grange, TN: one foster son, Calrence Harris of Piolet Point, TX; one adopted son into the family, Mauricio Deleon of Long Beach, CA; four grandchildren, Jarmar Liddell (deceased), Christopher Liddell of Tampa Fl, Justin Liddell of Charlotte, NC, and John Liddell (Tameshie) of Las Vegas, NA; fourteen great grandchildren, one great –great grandchild; one brother, Willie Liddell (Katie) of Los Angeles, CA and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
