Pearlie Lee (Wilkes) Bell
JANUARY 31, 1942 ~ NOVEMBER 4, 2018 (AGE 76)
Pearlie “Poonie” Lee Wilkes-Bell was born January 31st, 1942, to the late Calvin and Lula Boyd-Wilkes, in Hardeman County.
Her funeral service was held on Saturday November 10, 2018 at 12:00 pm at Simon Chapel MB Church with Pastor Jeffery Bledsoe in charge. Burial was in the church cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.
Pearlie was the seventh of nine children. Preceding her in death were M. H. “Blue”, Gillion, Lou Bertha “Black”(Lee Arthur), Robert Davis (MayNell), Essie Bell “Runt”(Marlo), Travis “Bud” (Lou Ella), Ernest “Biggon”(Rosie Mae), and Dorothy “Lil’Baby” (Will) Miller-Wilkes. Late Sunday evening, the Lord called her name and she left this earthly scene joining hands with the Master.
Pearlie confessed her hope in Christ, at an early age, where she was added to Simon Chapel M.B. Church. She was a member of the Usher board, and sung with the Wilkes Family Choir, in which she enjoyed. She was also employed with Hill Haven (Pine Meadows) Health Care, until her health failed.
Poonie was the life of the party! There was guaranteed many laughs and fond memories, if she showed up to any gathering. She loved her family and would stick by you in right and wrong. She will truly be missed.
Those left to cherish her memories is her niece, raised as her sister, in whom she spent many years with, Mae Sue Wilkes, of Whiteville, Tn., her nephews she helped raised, Kevon and Darius Watkins, of Whiteville, Tn. She helped raise a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends, that she called her children.
