Pennie Smith Obituary

Pennie Ann (Futrell) Smith

February 25, 1967 ~ August 3, 2025

58 Years Old

Pennie Futrell-Smith, age 58, was born February 25, 1967 in Bolivar, TN to the late Mr. Tommie Lee Mason and Mrs. Elise Mason.  Pennie was the tenth child of eleven children. Four siblings; James Henry, Edward Lee, James Earl, and Annie Mae preceded her in death.

His funeral service was held on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Jones Chapel MB Church.  Burial was in the Hopewell MB Church Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.

Pennie accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Hopewell MB Church where she was a faithful member and worshipper until she departed this earth.

After graduating from Middleton High School, Pennie pursued higher studies in a variety of fields, earning both; a bachelor’s and a master’s degree. She had recently earned her license as an Alcohol and Drug Abuse counselor. That was something she was extremely proud of.

She proudly belonged to Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. During her lifetime, Pennie held a variety of professional titles.

Pennie never stopped inspiring and empowering people. She was very kind hearted, liked everyone, and was willing to lend a helping hand.

She had no strangers in her life. We are certain that she is in Heaven. Pennie loved praising God and was a true worshipper. Meeting her at Heaven doors is her parents; Tommie and Elise Mason: three brothers, James Henry Mason, Edward Lee Mason, and James Buggs; one sister, Annie Mae Spight.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories: two daughters, Telisha Futrell and Elisha (Shirley) Futrell, both of Grand Junction, TN; four grandchildren, D’Legaci “Mae Mae” Fitzpatrick, Elizabeth Jade, Carter Jace, and Kamari Duncan; five sisters, Pastor Rosie Wooden of Bolivar, TN, Paulene Embrey, Lizzie Smith, Berry Mason, and Shela Mason, all of Grand Junction, TN; three brothers, Tommie Lee Mason (Patricia) of Grand Junction, TN, Pastor LB Mason (Annette) of Bolivar, TN, and Lorenzo Mason (Geniever) of Ashland, MS; three step-siblings, Mary Coleman, Jessie Rivers (Louise), Hubert Rivers (Martha), and Mary Harris. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
