Robert Minter Obituary

Robert Earl Minter

April 11, 1953 ~ October 18, 2025 (age 72)

Robert Earl Minter (Jingo) was born April 11,1953 in Bolivar, TN. to the late Al Smith and Beatrice Minter.

His memorial service was held on Saturday October 25, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the Antioch Bapist Church with Pastor Nathan Gibbs in charge.  Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Antioch Baptist Church in Whiteville, TN.  As a lifelong Tennessean, he graduated from Bolivar Central High School in Bolivar, TN.

He began employment at Harmon Automotive.  He started his career at Bolivar Wood Products where he remained for over fifteen years, served part-time at Madison Haywood Developmental Center, and made the decision to fully retire in July 2014.  During his employment at Bolivar Wood Products, he was well known, although he wasn’t a big talker, his work ethic spoke for itself.  He would report to work on time while yet ensuring that he took his breaks to visit a local store, Q-Mart to pick up favorite drink (Busch) and made sure that when it was quitting time, he was in the truck and ready to drive to Newcastle with the windows down.

He is preceded in death by his father, Al-Smith Minter, mother-Beatrice Minter, father-in-law-Walter Lake, mother-inlaw, Louise Lake, brother-James Minter, sister-Kathleen Bills, brother, Leonard Minter, granddaughter-Maurica Reaves.  He has grandparents, a host of aunts, uncles, in-laws, great nephew, and cousins who all preceded him in death as well.   Robert (Jingo) was a lover of life!  In his early years he loved traveling, fishing, hunting and spending time with family and friends.

He loved residing in what he considered as the country, Newcastle.  He spent countless hours walking across the yard to be with his brother and buddy, Alve and riding to the store in Whiteville to pick up lottery tickets, Busch, and running to Bolivar to tell a few jokes and get his hair cut by his brother Gerald. He was truly blessed despite the quick circumstances that he faced in life.  He remained positive, rarely complained, and pushed through the pain.  He devoted his time to working on a “honey do list” that his wife, Jeanette would often develop and enjoying time with his grandchildren that he loved so dearly.  He was not a man of fancy clothes and shoes but loved to grab a Powerball, lottery, or his mother, Beatrice, yellow birthday t-shirt, jeans, and a pair of tennis shoes to get the day going.  He loved to play deuce, but only if you had money to play with, loved a to go plate to be fixed as well as delivered, and to eat fish that his daughter Ericas prepared. He was looking forward to a fishing trip with his family in Destin Florida, but God had other plans.

Although he was not a man of many words, he lived life with purpose and passion, he had some famous words, “That’s life” and “Glad to see you my friend”.  Anyone who knew “Jingo” knows that he has a profound love for his family.  He gave everyone a nickname and would always be ready extend a hug to embrace everyone.  He taught us to be true to yourself, you do not have to attend every event that you are invited to, and that it is okay to spend time in your own space.

On Saturday, October 18, 2025, his loving light of life was unexpectedly transitioned to his place in Heaven.  He was a loving husband to Jeanette that he leaves to cherish his memories.

The two were joined in holy matrimony on June 16, 1973, with recently celebrating 52 years as husband and wife.  He did everything that he could to make her happy by sacrificing a number of things for his family.

He also leaves his daughters, Kiki (Maurice) Reaves, Ericas Minter, and Cabria Minter.  Granddaughters, Erkijah Minter and Chloe Jenning. Grandsons, Maurius Reaves and Terrell Minter. Great-Grandchildren, Jaci Murphy, Kysen Reaves, Kali Reaves, and Nayvi Reaves. Brothers- Alve Minter, Deitrich (Sandra) Minter, Gerald (Carla) Minter, Esther Minter, Donald (JoAnn) Minter, and one sister-in-law, Mary Minter.  Sister in laws-Jerlean Wright and Lorine Robbins. Brother-in-Law-James Lake.  He has a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews, that were very close to him.  He has a host of cousins and friends that loved him dearly.  His life was an extension of God’s love.  He is absent from the earthly realm and is now safe and rejoicing pain free in Heaven.
