Ruby Marie (Crowder) Bass

Ruby Marie (Crowder) Bass age 97 of Whiteville TN, departed this life at Bolivar Health and Rehabilitation Home in Bolivar to be with the Lord on Thursday October 9, 2025.

Her funeral service was held on Sunday October 19, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Union Hill MB Church.  Burial was in the church cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome .com was in charge of the professional service.

Ruby was born May 26,1928 to the late Tommie and Pauline Crowder in Whiteville TN, she was the youngest of nine children all which preceded her in death, two brothers Tom Crowder Jr., Frank Crowder and six sisters, Mae Ollie Morgan, Lou Berta Crisp, Louvennie Woods, Ora Lee Bufford, Daisy Bell Neely, and Emma Joe Harris.

Ruby confessed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and joined Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Ruby was a faithful and their eldest, resolute member. She served on the Usher’s Board for fifty plus years.  She truly enjoyed being a door keeper in the Lord’s House until age and declining health prevented her from doing so.

Ruby was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Cavat Bass on November 26, 1947, and from this union, ten children were born. Two children preceded her in death, Desiree Bass and Galveston Bass.

Ruby was a hard worker; she was a factory worker and worked on the family farm as well as being a home maker for her children.

Ruby Bass leaves a legacy to cherish her memories forever with eight children: Charles (Martha) Bass of Denver Colorado, Ruby Jean (Anthony) Prewitt of Bolivar TN, Bernice (Robert) Spencer of Pinckneyville Illinois, Melvin (Ollie) Bass of Denver Colorado, Lorenzo (Linda) Bass of Springfield Arkansas, Nearlene Bass of Whiteville TN, Reaker (Joyce) Bass of Cookeville TN, Cavat (Mona) Bass of Brighton TN: one child she raised as her own, Chico (Kim) Bass of Greenville, MS; twenty-four grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren, and ten great-great grandchildren. A host of nieces and nephews too numerous to mention but loved them all dearly.
