Santawan Lashawn Cross (affectionately known as Shawn or Manny), age 40 of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on August 9, 2024.
His funeral service was held on Friday August 30, 2024 at 11:00 am at Jerome Boyd Chapel @ DFH with Reverend Melvin Bufford in charge. Burial was in the Union Springs MB Church cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home (www.dixiefuneralhome.com) was in charge of the professional service.
Shawn was born in Toledo, OH on May 31, 1984 to John & Norma Cross.
He was a very outgoing person, he had a love for his family and friends that was unmatched, he loved hanging out with his mom, aunties and cousins playing Uno & Greedy, he had a love for cooking that led him to work at Agenda Sports Bar & Grill, catered for various events, he would make Chicken/Shrimp Alfredo, loaded bake potatoes and tamales, and every time they would sellout. Shawn had various other talents, he loved to Bowl, go fishing, he created molds for gold teeth, he did tattoos, customized shoes and he loved the “Dallas Cowboys” Football Team (DC4L).
Shawn Joined United Vision Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Perry Harris IIII, he had already started coming to church and was helping in the Culinary Ministry, then made the decision to join the body of Christ.
Shawn was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents.
He leaves to cherish his memory parents, John & Norma Cross; sister, Trudy Cross, Nashville, TN; brothers, Daryll Alexander and Quincy Crisp, Toledo, OH, godmother, Carolyn Jenkins; godsisters, Latausha Smith, Jasmine Poston and Jamie Walker-Syph; godbrother, Marvin Pettaway; godchildren, Khali and Kai; special uncle, Otha Cross; best friends, Todd Whitcher and Elisha Phillips, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his United Vision church family
