Sarah Long Obituary

Sarah Long

February 26, 1945 ~ December 20, 2025 (age 80)

Sarah Taylor was born on February 26, 1945, to the late Robert Taylor and Mary Frances Bolden Taylor. She was the youngest of seven children that Robert and Mary Frances had. Sarah was born with a heart defect, and doctors predicted she would not live to see her eighteenth birthday. However, God intervened, and she lived to the age of 80, often expressing her gratitude to Him.

Her parents instilled in her valuable skills such as cooking, canning, freezing food, sewing, and caring for the family. Sarah attended the Hardeman County School System. She excelled as a supervisor at both Western State and Nat T. Winston, where she made significant contributions before confidently retiring. Throughout her work history, she warmly welcomed several individuals into her life, and they affectionately called her Moma Sarah, reflecting the deep bond and love she shared with them.

Sarah embarked on a journey of love and family, first marrying Leslie W. Howard. Together, they welcomed three vibrant children into the world, each adding their unique spark to the family dynamic. After some time, Sarah found love again with Leo Turner, and their union blessed them with two more delightful children, further enriching their lives. In a beautiful testament to her capacity for love, Sarah later married Lorenzo Long, and together they formed a blended family that celebrated the joys of a total of 11 children.

From a tender age, Sarah embraced Christ, allowing His teachings to shape her early understanding of faith. However, as she ventured into her teenage years, the allure of the world beckoned her, and she found herself swept away by what she described as a pursuit of joy and excitement. Time passed, and with it came a profound transformation; as she delved deeper into God's Word, her heart blossomed with love for Christ. This journey of spiritual awakening not only expanded her understanding of faith but also fueled her commitment, propelling her into the ministry. With humility and grace, she accepted the calling of prophetess, embracing this sacred honor as a testament to her unwavering devotion.

Sarah possessed an unwavering love for sharing the profound insights she had gained through her spiritual journey. With open arms and a heart full of warmth, she welcomed others into her home for Bible study gatherings, transforming her living room into a sanctuary of learning and fellowship. Each session was infused with an inviting atmosphere where friends and newcomers alike could explore their faith, ask questions, and grow together in their spiritual walk, guided by Sarah's wisdom and compassion.

Sarah was truly the heart and soul of our family, embodying a warmth and compassion that brought us all together. She was a constant source of love, offering wise advice and unwavering encouragement during both good times and challenging moments. Her infectious smile had a radiant quality that brightened every room she entered, instantly lifting the spirits of everyone around her. With her natural sense of humor, she had a remarkable ability to make you laugh, often with just a witty remark or an amusing gesture, effortlessly creating joy in the everyday moments of life. Her presence was a cherished gift that we will always hold dear.

Throughout her life, she forged deep and meaningful connections with several individuals. She was the kind of person you could always rely on, confide in, and turn to for guidance—essentially, she became your closest friend. When you celebrated your achievements, she was your most enthusiastic cheerleader, her joy radiating as brightly as your own. In moments of struggle, she never hesitated to lift your spirits, offering unwavering support and faith in your abilities. And when you stumbled, she had the courage to correct you, always striving to help you grow and learn from your mistakes.

As we mourn her passing, we find solace in the enduring legacy she has woven through the lives of her children, grandchildren, and everyone fortunate enough to have crossed her path. The void her absence creates is a heavy ache in our hearts; yet, it serves as a profound inspiration to embody the beautiful example she set for us all.

In addition to her parents, Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, Lorenzo Long and three siblings, Elvia Mathis, James Taylor, and McNeal Taylor; two grandchildren, Kendall Williams and Matilda Howard.
