Mother accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age.  She united with Mays Hill Missionary Baptist Church and later joined Hillfield Missionary Baptist Church where she remain a faithful member until death.  Mother served on the Usher Board, Pastor Aid Committee, Kitchen committee, and wherever she was needed.  She was employed for many years at Tennessee Food, Kilgore, and later at Harman International where she retired after 15 years. Mother and her sister, Mrs. Sammie Morrow organized The Lockett Family Club.  The love of family members led three sisters to host the first “Tennessee Lockett Family Reunion”, which extended to the Chicago chapter and continue today.  Theme for this club is “The Family That Prays Together, Stays Together,” Joshua 24:15.  Her favorite pass time was sewing, preparing meals and hosting get-to-gathers for the family and friends.  She would always say “I have the biggest yard so we will have it at my house.”

Her specialties were German Chocolate and Punch Bowl Cake and chicken and dressing.

When Mother health fail she moved to Pine Meadow Health & Rehabilitation Center where she remained until death.  She continued to grow spiritually by attending Sunday school, Sunday evening services, and Wednesday night bible study.  At Pine Meadow she made many friends both Staff and fellow residents.  Mother quickly bonded with her roommate Ms. Evelyn Joy.  They always told family members what they wanted to wear to the Prom, Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinners.  They often say “We are two sharp women.”
