Sever Scott, Jr.

Reverend Sever Scott Jr. was born February 23, 1943 in Hickory Valley to the late Sever Scott, Sr. and Lydia Mae Perry Scott.
His funeral service was held on Saturday November 6, 2021 at 11:00 am atRivers of Life International Ministries in Grand Junction, Tn with Pastor Melvin Bufford in charge. Burial was in the Mt. Salem Church Cemetery-Hickory Valley and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.
Sever attended Hardeman County School System and graduated form Bolivar Industrial High School in 1961. Sever confessed Christ as his Savior at an early age.
Sever was united in Holy Matrimony to the Mary Ann Hunt in 1965. To this union four children was born. This union combined nurtured seven children.
In 1965, Sever moved his family to Rockford, IL where he was employed at Camp Car and Dean Food. He became a member of Gomez AME Church under the leadership of Reverend Rideout. Sever was ordained as a Reverend in 1969 and also sung with the Spiritual Harmonizers from 1965 to 1970.
After moving to Detroit in 1970, Reverend Scott joined Holy Tabernacle MB Church under the leadership of Pastor Bill Parks, Jr. where he was the chairman of the trustee board. Reverend Scott also rejoined the Victory 4 singing group now known as the Pure Heart Travelers.
In 1971 Reverend Scott began working at Swedish Steel and in 1971, he left to pursue a career at Ford Motor Company. He worked at Ford until he retired in 2003.
The Scott family relocated back to Grand Junction, TN in July 2005. He joined Mt. Salem MB Church under the leadership of Pastor Melvin Bufford where he remained a member until his health failed.
Reverend Scott was preceded in death by his parents: his siblings; Wiley, Clarence, Milton, and Barbara: one grandson; Donte Hunt.
Reverend Scott leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife; Mary Ann of Grand Junction, TN: seven children; Donnie Hunt of Grand Junction, TN, Felita Dye (Richard) of Phoenix, AZ, Geneva Wright of Ashland, MS, Bernadette Scott of Grand Junction, TN, Tyrone Scott of Memphis, TN, Sever Scott III (Ursula) of Bartlett, TN, and Ed Scott (Alicia) of Oceanside, CA: one brother; Pastor Sammie Scott (Ann): two sisters; Ella Mae “Arnita” White and Mildred Bryson twenty-eight grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren: three sister in laws; Margaret Warren, Charlene Scott, and Lois Scott: one brother in law; Clinton Thomas Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will keep his memory alive.
