Varnell Tisdale

Mother Varnell Tisdale was born on December 20, 1926 to Garfield Miller and Mary Dotson in Vildo, TN.

Mother Varnell was schooled in a small one room school in the Vildo community named Brown School.

Mother Varnell received enough education in that little school to allow her to learn to read and write which helped her through life until this present day. Mother Varnell was united in Holy Matrimony to Jessie Lee Tisdale on April 30, 1942 in Benton Co. Mississippi.

To this union, three sons was born; Eugene (Carmen) Tisdale, two sons who preceded her id death; Ernest (Jackie) Tisdale and Rev. Lorenzo (Virginia) Tisdale.

After the death of her husband in 1951, Mother Varnell purchased a house in Whiteville TN so all three her young boys could go to school together at Allen White High School.

In 1955, Mother Varnell met Curtis Bower in Whiteville and to this union, one son was born. Mother Varnell was also preceded in death by one grandson, DeKoven Smith.

Mother Varnell is survived by two sons; Eugene (Carmen) Tisdale of Louisville, KY and David (Beverly Ann) Tisdale of Bolivar, TN; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Margaret Miller of Memphis, TN; ten grandchildren, Gregory Tisdale, Lorenzo Tisdale, Jr., Sherry Tisdale, Veronica Cannon, Marlon Tisdale, Harold Spencer, Fedel Jones, Ursula Hines, Eric Tisdale, and Corey Tisdale; thirty-one great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, three nieces, two nephews and a host of cousins and friends.
