90 Years Old
Verneda Hopgood-Parram was born December 1, 1933 in Hardeman County.
Her funeral service was held on Saturday October 19, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Greater Springfield MB Church with Pastor Robert Parham in charge. Burial was in the Bolivar Community cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home (www.dixiefuneralhome.com) was in charge of the professional service.
She was the 4th of 5 children, born to the late Dinah (Fuller) and Herbert Hopgood.
She was educated in Hardeman County School system. She attended cosmetology school and became a licensed beautician.
Although she was baptized at Clover Chapel Baptist Church, she later became a member of Greater Springfield MB Church. For many years, she was an active usher.
Verneda was employed at Nat T. Winston and retired from Western Mental Health Institute after 30 years of service.
On January 27, 2012, Verneda became a resident of Pine Meadows Healthcare. She was given the title as "The DoorKeeper" by Mrs. Carrie B. Gatlin because she loved sitting up front at the door to greet all the workers and visitors.
On October 11, 2024 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, our Lord and Savior reclaimed His own. Ms. Verneda Parram entered into eternal rest.
She was preceded in death by her late husband, Thomas Parram and her only child; Earnest Lorenzo Parham.
She leaves to cherish her memories to her granddaughter; Contina (Narada) Smith, great granddaughter; Cherokee Parham, great great granddaughter; JaKeelyn Re'Sa Jarrett, daughter-in-law, Cherry Parham, all of Bolivar, TN, 1 brother Alvin Hopgood, nieces; Teresa Shaw and Carolyn Shaw, both of Chicago, Illinois, Linda (Herman) Nichols of Edmond, Oklahoma and a special niece, Felicia Buntyn of Cahokia Heights, Illinois, who would always call/text to check on her aunt Neda and made sure she went to visit when she came to Tennessee, a son she raised as her own, Rodriquez McNeal of Bolivar, TN and a host of other relatives and friends that will miss him dearly.
