On February 14, 1950, William Douglas Wright ( Punkin) was born to the late Bertha Mae Wright Poindexter and reared by the late Roosevelt Poindexter Sr. ( Jack).

Being raised by God-fearing parents, William accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and was baptized at the Cedar Grove MB Church.

As a young person, he grew up being a farmer and mechanic, while attending Mason Elementary School and later graduated from Byars Hall High School in Covington, TN. He worked many jobs, but his specialty was being a mechanic.

He love to cook and grill outside.

He was employed at Harman Automotive Inc. After the factory closed down, he went to Tennessee Technology Center in Whiteville, TN where he received his automotive Technician Diploma.

His first job after graduating was in Brownsville, TN. Later he was employed with Scates Automotive Repair Service in Jackson TN until he became ill and later retired.

William later relocated to Bolivar, TN, where he was united in Holy Matrimony to Bernice Murphy on September 14, 1996. This union blended a family of five children: Minister Timothy Durrell (Loretta) Wright, Felissa (Kevin) Wright-Young, Teela (Lewis) WrightThomas all of Memphis, TN, Tyree White of Moscow, TN, and Minister Vincent B. Murphy of Bolivar, TN. He was preceded in death by his sister, Martha Jean Poindexter-Taylor.

William leaves to cherish his memory: a devoted wife, Bernice Wright of Bolivar. TN; three sisters, Minister Virginia Rivers, Darlene Poindexter, and Christa (Redd) Poindexter; one brother, Roosevelt Poindexter, Jr. all of Macon, TN; fourteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and relatives.
