Willie Lee Pirtle, Jr. was born on May 3, 1944, in Toone, TN to the late Willie Lee Pirtle, Sr. and late Ethel Mae (Fuller) Pirtle.
His funeral service was held on Saturday April 9, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Hillfield MB Church with burial in the Clover Chapel church Cemetery at with Pastor Lawrence Pirtle in charge. Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.
He attended school & graduated from Bolivar Industrial High School in 1963. He was a fantastic basketball player in high school.
Willie worked for many companies including Kilgore (Chemring), the Garment Factory, & Standard Construction. He worked for Standard until he became the proud business owner, Pirtle Paving, an asphalt company in Toone, TN. He was well respected in the community for his paving skills & great personality. He traveled for jobs & performed work for many locals. At an early age, he accepted Christ as his Lord & Savior & was a member of Clover Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where he was a member of the male chorus. He was also a member of the Toone Clowns baseball team for many years.
Willie Lee Pirtle, Jr. & Helen Pirtle were joined together in holy matrimony. That union ended after 17 years. From this union 5 children were born: Larence, Cynthia, Cornelious, Makeya, & Katina.
Later on, Willie had special partner & girlfriend in his life for more than 25 years. Her name was Norma Marie Bates. She preceded him in death on January 7, 2018. Norma’s kids & grandkids had a special place in his heart, & he raised them like his own. Preceding him in death was his father, Willie Lee Pirtle, Sr., his mother, Ethel Mae (Fuller) Pirtle, & his girlfriend, Norma Marie Bates.
Willie leaves to cherish his memory, 2 sons & 3 daughters: Larence (Connie) Pirtle of Jackson, TN, Cynthia Reese of Newport News, VA, Cornelious Pirtle of Bolivar, TN, Makeya (Terry) Stewart of Jackson, TN, & Katina (Brian) Mays of Toone, TN. He leaves his 1 brother & 3 sisters: Martha Mae Jimmerson, Alvin (Katherine) Pirtle, Alberta Wooden, & Diane (Larry) Chism all of Toone, TN. He leaves a special niece & caregiver: Jackie (Nae) Jimmerson of Toone, TN. He leaves a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, & co-workers who will miss him dearly.
