Willis was born on July 24, 1950 to the late Oscar Wooden Jr. and Carrie Louise Dubose Wooden in Hardeman County, Tennessee.

His funeral service was held on Friday October 21, 2022 at 11:00 am at Dixie Funeral Home with Pastor Edward Bowers, Jr.  in charge.  Burial was in the Little Walnut Grove MB Church cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.

He departed this life October 15, 2022 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

His spiritual nurturing began when he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and joined Little Walnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church, were he was faithful until his health fell.

His education was obtained in Bolivar, Tennessee. (Hardeman County) Upon completion of his education Willis began his career at The Tannery and was employed there until the factory closed which was 13 yrs. He then found other employment with Harman Automotive in which he was employed 5 years. Willis continued further and was later employed by Hardeman County Highway Department for approximately 24 yrs. until he retired.

Although he worked diligently throughout his community, it didn’t minimize or take away from the responsibilities of being a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, brother in law, cousin and friend to many.

He was proceeded in death by his father; Oscar Wooden Jr., his mother; Carrie Louise Dubose Wooden, his sisters; Johnnie Mae Sain, Mozell Dubose Parham, his brother; James Oscar Wooden and one grandson Altron Willams.

Willis departure leaves many precious memories for his wife of 48 years- Rosie Mason Wooden of Bolivar TN, Step-mother; Jeanette Wooden of Georgia, his children; Patrick (Bernice) Lofties, Willis Darnell Wooden (Trinity Minter) of Bolivar TN, Latoya (Jasmine) Wooden of Nashville, TN, a grandson; Rell, that he raised as his own and a daughter that he called his oldest Pennie Futrell-Smith of Grand Junction, Tn. He leaves 13 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 4 brothers; Larry (Brenda) Wooden, Earl Dubose of Bolivar, TN, David Wooden and Barry Wooden of Chicago, Illinois. He also leaves 4 sisters; Diane (Leslie) Howard of Bolivar TN, Linda Dubose of Ohio and Diana (Gary) Atwater of and Annette Wooden of Bolivar, TN , One Aunt Mollie Dubose of Bolivar TN and numerous of brothes-in-law, sisters-in-law and a host of nephews and nieces, cousins and friends
