Winfred Jones Obituary

Winfred Jones

February 6, 1965 ~ November 29, 2025 (age 60)

Mr. Winfred Wayne Jones, lovingly known to many as “Ham,” was born on Feb. 6, 1960 and departed this life far too soon on November 29, 2025.

Though we feel his time on earth was cut short, the love he gave and the kindness he shared will remain with us forever and always.

Winfred Wayne Jones, “Ham” to those who held him closest was a devoted brother, a cherished friend, and above all, the best uncle anyone could hope for. His gentle demeanor, quiet strength, and unwavering compassion touched every life he encountered. He had a rare gift for making others feel seen, valued, and cared for, whether through a warm smile, a thoughtful gesture, or a simple invite to share his time and meals. He embraced life in ways both simple and deeply meaningful.

He found joy in cooking hearty soul food that brought family together, filling the home with comforting aromas and even more comforting laughter. He loved reminiscing about days past, sharing stories that reminded us where we came from and how far we had come. And on any given day, you could find him grooving to the soulful rhythms of ’70s and 80’s music, his soundtrack of choice, a reflection of the warmth and soul he carried within himself.

A man of quiet pride, Uncle Ham always kept himself neatly groomed, known for his sharp haircuts and stylish sideburns that became part of his signature look. He also had a fondness for simple staples that brought him comfort, his trusted Avon products, a bit of Vaseline, a peppermint or stick of mint gum tucked in his pocket with his cigarettes and the familiar satisfaction of a good meal from KFC. These small joys painted a picture of a man who appreciated life’s humble pleasures and carried them with him wherever he went.

He leaves behind a family who adored him: a host of siblings, nieces and nephews who will forever remember him as their buddy, and countless loved ones who were blessed by his steady kindness and last but not least, his cats. Though we grieve the loss of such a tender soul, we honor the joy, generosity, and love he brought into this world. May his memory be a blessing, and may we carry forward the gentleness he embodied every day of his life. Yet here to cherish his love and memories are his sisters, Maryetta Robinson, Ruby Fason (Charles), Emma Hill (Nathaniel), Patricia (Melvin) Womack and Wanda (Hubert) Hamer, and two brothers: Jacob and Glenn Jones
