First, my condolence to the family of my friend. This truly breaks my heart because I've been trying to locate Dedrick for years to discover this. Dedrick and I go back to 1981 when we were stationed at Lackland AFB, Texas. Immediately we bonded and became good friends with a shared love of music and the gym. Our paths crossed again in 1987 when I arrived at Kunsan AB, Korea and discovered Dedrick and I would be working together. We last saw each other in late 80s when he was stationed at Hurlburt Field AFB, Florida. Dedrick was a good Christan man who'd give you the shirt off his back and he will be missed. My prayers and thoughts go out to Dedrick's wife Marjorie ,Dedrick Bowden 's parent WC and Elsie Bowden , brother Fredrick. I thank God for the generations of Hillard and Nellie Bowden. Hillard and Nellie Bowden a father and mother that walked and talked with the Lord, taught their son WC Bowden to be a follower of Christ. I admire WC and Elsie Bowden for the upbringing of their son Dedrick Bowden , teaching him the plan of Salvation. Dedrick had a big smile and a personality to match. I will always remember all of the love and respect he gave his parent I once told Dedrick that I loved him so much for his absolutely impeccable manners. When God gave Dedrick his son Darrell Bowden the first grandson of WC and Elsie that brought joy to them. Dedrick remembered his Parent's teaching and instructed his Son Darrell Bowden how to live .Darrell is now a father to son Quian Bowden, Quian is another blessing to the Bowden Family. He is a shinning star with a very high IQ. I believe that Darrell will follow the teaching handed down from Hillard and Nellie Bowden , grandparent WC and Elsie Bowden, father Dedrick Bowden and instruct his son Quian to keep his eyes on the prize"CHRIST JESUS".

Hearing of the death of Dedrick brought tears to my eyes but when I thought about the words in the scripture in II Corinthians 5:8 my heart rejoiced. Dedrick is absent from the body , I believe he is with the Lord. Dedrick didn't mind talking about his relationship with the Lord.
A special Note from the Bowden Family, we will keep the Faith for we know Jesus will carry you thru.

"HE ONLY TAKES THE BEST"
God saw you were getting tired and a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around you and whispered. "Come to Me." With tear-filled eyes I watched you leave this place. A golden heart stopped beating, hard-working was put to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us that he only takes the BEST.

I worked extensively with Mr. Bowden in his professional role as Child Nutrition Director for Montgomery Public Schools. He was affectionately known to many as “Dee” and although he had an imposing physical presence, yet was soft-spoken and the gentleness of his spirit radiated through his very pleasant personality. I know I speak for many when I say his leadership, friendship, comradery, and many acts of kindness will forever be missed. May it be of comfort to the bereaved family and friends knowing the grace of the almighty God has welcomed him into his everlasting kingdom.

I never had a conversation with him personally but I know how Mr. Bowden felt about his position and the children of our school system. He knew the importance of them being given the opportunity to have two guaranteed meals each school day because it was the only ones some would receive. Thank you for sharing him with us. My prayers are with the family in this season.
