JOSIE MAE DOTSON-JESTICE

June 14, 1942 ~ November 23, 2016 (age 74)

The Blessed Life of “Josie Mae”

God with his infinite wisdom, dispatched an angel to Jackson General Hospital at approximate 9:47AM on November 23, 2016 to retrieve the soul of Mrs. Josie Mae Dotson-Jestice from her ailing body and carried her to a place of rest.

Josie Mae was born on June 14,1942 to the late Mr. Arthur W. Dotson and the late Mrs. Teishie L. Crisp-Dotson.

Her funeral service was held on Saturday December 3, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Greater Springfield MB Church- Bolivar, TN with Reverend Lawrence Pirtle in charge.  Burial was in the Johnson Chapel Church Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.

Josie Mae loved learning and received her education from Brown Elementary School and Allen White School.

Josie Mae as a smart, beautiful, hardworking young girl found Christ at an early age. Coming from a very dedicated, spiritual, and church going family, she joined Johnson Chapel CME Church. Josie was a very active member and enjoyed sharing her beautiful angelic voice with others. As she blossomed from a young lady into a woman, her family moved to Bolivar finding a new church home.  Greater Springfield welcomed her with open arms and she remained a member until the day God whispered “Servant Well Done”

Josie Mae worked in two factories; Harmon Automotive and Kilgore Flares but eventually pursued her deepest passion which was loving and taking care of her children.  Josie Mae was preceded in death by her husband; Freddy L. Jestice: three brothers; Samuel Dotson, Jessie Dotson and Milton Dotson: two sisters; Earline Whitehorn and Maxine Dotson: one nephew that she raised as her own; Melvin Dotson: one granddaughter that she raised as her own; Tarsha Dotson and a special friend/mentor: Mrs. Mable Andrews.
Josie Mae leaves to cherish her memories: four children; Leon Dotson and Gregory (Mary) Dotson of Nashville, TN; Felicia Ivory of Bolivar, TN and Marshall (Johnetta) Dotson of St. Louis, Mo: one nephew she raised as her own; Terry Dotson of Nashville, TN: two granddaughters that she raised as her own; Tiffany and Tabatha Dotson, both of Bolivar, TN: one lovely sister: Dessie Walker: a charming brother; Arthur (Mary) Dotson: eight grandchildren: five great grandchildren: two special friends; Sally Robinson and Lydia Beasely: a special cousin; Ernest Tisdale and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who she sincerely loved.
